Tasting notes
A lively ruby red color, with intense aromas of violets, currants, raspberries and spicy nuances. Fresh and balanced on the palate, Amaranto has a fine and elegant tannic texture with an excellent persistence.
Pairings
It's flavors are delicate enough to not overpower the food. Amaranto makes a great match for seafood, poultry and red meat. It's particularly tasty paired with smoked meats because Sangiovese has an earthy, smoky quality to it. It goeas well with tasty fish dishes, such as Caciucco or a freshly cooked Sesame Tuna seasoned with soy sauce.
Why we like it
Aged 10 months in French oak, Amaranto undergoes a short maceration to express a very pure style of Sangiovese: gentle and elegant but also rich and intense. "Amaranto" is a shade of red which takes its name from a scarlet plant that the Ancient Greeks called 'Amarantos' ('which doesn't fade'). It therefore represented all those genuine, sacred and timeless qualities that still permeate our land and vines.
